The law firm of Lipsitz & Ponterio, LLC, is announcing a total of $1 million in settlements on behalf of an Oneida, New York, man against several manufacturers of asbestos-containing plastic molding compound. Beginning in 1961, our client was exposed to asbestos as a result of his work as a molder at the Diemolding Corporation.

From 1961 to 1966, the plaintiff was regularly exposed to asbestos-containing plastic molding compound that he transformed into plastic parts for a variety of industries. On a daily basis, the plaintiff dumped up to fix or six, fifty-five gallon barrels of granular asbestos-containing plastic molding compound into a preform machine. Once the material melted and formed into discs, our client removed the discs by hand and placed them into a hydraulic press mold machine. Once the plastic parts were molded, the plaintiff cleaned the machine by using an air hose to remove excess debris and dust. The plaintiff’s exposure to asbestos occurred when he dumped the granular compound into the preform machine and subsequently air-hosed the hydraulic mold machine after the plastic parts were formed.

In 2002, and as a result of his exposure to asbestos-containing plastic molding compound, the plaintiff was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma at the age of 61.
