More Verdicts & Settlements

Lipsitz & Ponterio, LLC is announcing a total of $590,000 in settlements on behalf of a former Arlington, Virginia, residential boilermaker/HVAC contractor against several manufacturers and distributors of asbestos-containing products. Beginning in 1960, our client was exposed to asbestos-containing shorts, furnace cement, asbestos millboard and asbestos rope when he maintained and removed boilers, burners and water heaters.

During the course of our client’s employment as a boilermaker, he was present and participated in removing and/or maintaining boilers, burners and water heaters in residences and small businesses.  He was exposed to asbestos when he mixed and prepared asbestos cement for use on boilers and water heaters. He was also exposed to asbestos when he used chisels and hammers to remove old asbestos insulation during repair or removal of boilers. As part of his duties, he also cut and sawed asbestos millboard and asbestos rope, which emitted asbestos dust. The removal of old boilers and insulation created large amounts of visible asbestos dust. Additionally, our client was exposed to asbestos when he swept the work area after boiler installation, repairs or removal.

As a result of his exposure to asbestos-containing materials, our client was diagnosed with mesothelioma at the age of 69.
