Prior joining Lipsitz & Ponterio, Mr. Vona served as a United States Marine and worked as a City of Buffalo police officer for nearly ten years. Mr. Vona concentrates his practice in the areas of Asbestos Litigation, Products Liability, Medical Malpractice and Automobile Accidents.  Mr. Vona participates in all aspects of a case, including trial, and has extensive experience in mediation and arbitration.

In November, 2009, Mr. Vona and Michael Ponterio served as counsel for a trial in Buffalo, New York, and obtained a $3 million dollar settlement award on behalf of our client, a local union boilermaker for injuries resulting from exposure to asbestos on the job.

In 2008, Mr. Vona served as co-counsel for a trial in Syracuse, NY, involving our client, who contracted mesothelioma through exposure to asbestos containing insulation. The jury awarded $5 million to our client who was responsible for repair and maintenance of steam boilers and other equipment onboard a Navy destroyer in the 1960’s.  The verdict is believed to be the largest for a mesothelioma victim in upstate New York.

Mr. Vona was also involved in the extensive preparation and conduct of a mesothelioma case settlement exceeding $2.4 million for our client who was an ironworker with mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer.  The client had been exposed to various asbestos-containing products including insulation, fireproofing material and raw asbestos fiber throughout his forty year career as an iron worker.
